I have just bought a ZTE MF627 3G modem from 3 (three.co.uk). Having installed it I can connect to 3G successfully via the Network section of System Preferences (or via the supplied software). However, when I connect to the 3G network is disables access to wireless networks (airport is turned off as soon as I hit connect). Even once I've disconnected from 3G network and unplugged the modem I am unable to connect to my airport network. I set location back to Automatic (from 3Connect) and can seemingly connect to the wireless network: I get black bars in the airport toolbar. But whether I use DHCP or manually set an address, I am unable to actually ping my router or get on the Internet.

With DHCP I just get a self-assigned address. A reboot fixes the issue until I connect via the modem again, but isn't an ideal solution. I have looked for more information and driver updates on the ZTE web site to no avail. I did find but it's for Huawei modems, not ZTE. I will be taking this issue up with 3, but has anyone else got any advice on this issue or encountered similar problems? Make sure your 3G modem is attached but not connected.

Thanks for pointing this out as no matter how many times I read the post I did not notice. One thing that should be noted if you follow and use the procedure in the post is that you are unable to reinstall 3Connect software. This has to do with entries to 3Connect still been on your Mac and which stop the ability to reinstall 3Connect. I will be posting how to remove those entries, and have both 3Connect software and the ability to share the connection available to you if you so choose.
